Skillsoft's IT Skills and Salary survey asks tech professionals about their compensation, certifications, job roles, challenges, and far more. This report compiles their insights.

JOB SATISFACTION

70% of professionals reported feeling satisfied with work. However, nearly two-thirds say they’re likely to look for a new position in the next year. Why? The top three factors named by respondents for changing employers were increased compensation, a lack of training, growth, and development, and remote or hybrid opportunities.  

 

JOB SECURITY

74% of tech professionals feel good about their job security — a consistent trend that carries on from past years. And nearly half of those who were laid off bounced back within three months.

93% of respondents worldwide have at least one certification. They say the leading benefits including high-quality, faster work output. Furthermore, 48% of IT decision-makers plan to hire additional staff and say certifications are among the most important attributes to them when assessing prospective candidates.  

 

INVESTMENTS

With increased tech demands, many IT decision-makers anticipate hiring will likely increase in the coming months. With 44% of those surveyed expecting their budget to increase allowing additional spending potential on talent and tools.  

SKILL GAPS REMAIN TOP CHALLENGE FOR IT DECISION-MAKERS 

For decision-makers, skill gaps are one of their greatest challenges at work. And, unfortunately, almost the same portion of leaders report gaps this year compared to last. 

 

Gaps increase stress on existing employees, lengthen project durations, and put business objectives at risk. What’s the answer? It’s talent development.
